Amniotic membrane applied to burns healing: Pre-clinical study

نویسندگان

چکیده

This preclinical study aimed to evaluate the tissue repair process of burns treated with human amniotic membrane (hAM) patches in rats. Twenty-four rats were subjected superficial partial thickness, and randomly allocated into two groups: Control Treated Group, subdivided experimental periods 7th 14th days. The lesions evaluated by digitalized images (macroscopy) analysis histological sections stained H&E quantify number inflammatory cells fibroblasts present different times (histomorphometry). histomorphometric analyses performed blindly. Statistical employed Kolmogorov-Smirnov Mann Whitney tests, 95% confidence interval at 5% significance level (p <0.05). Macroscopically, group presented a crust formation before there no signs infection both groups. Microscopically, qualitative showed faster evolution healing groups compared Control, reduction infiltrate, intense proliferation better organization collagen fibers. quantitative statistically significant results regarding (p<0.0001) 14 th day increased hAM group. this demonstrated that application reduces accelerates onset proliferative phase burn injuries.

Amniotic Membrane Extract for Acute Ocular Chemical Burns

Background: Ocular chemical burns induce devastating and permanent damage to the ocular surface. Rapid intervention is required for maximal visual rehabilitation. Amniotic membrane transplantation (AMT) may save the ocular surface, however it introduces a potentially unnecessary surgical trauma in such compromised eyes. Amniotic membrane extracts (AME) could be a practical substitute of AMT in ...
